WEEKEND FLYING PROSPECTS: AUGUST 30-31 2008
A
low-pressure system and associated cold front, together with a weakening
high-pressure ridge in the Tasman, will direct strong N-NW winds over Victoria
on Saturday. The front will traverse the state during Sunday producing a
vigorous W-SW airstream in its wake.
Saturday
August 30: Expect a cool, cloudy day with strong northerly
winds and rain periods developing late morning. Max temp approx. 14 deg C.
Sunday
August 31: The cold front should clear the western
district during the early morning leaving mainly cloudy conditions with a few
showers, clearing later. Winds will turn westerly at 10-15 kts after the front.
Maximum temperature expected around 13 deg C, with cloudbase about 4,000 feet.
Potential for Grampians wave during the afternoon.
The
medium-term outlook looks promising, with prospects for wave on Monday and
early Tuesday.
