Planetary Birth by Fire
Solar Eclipse - 4th December 2002

Introduction

The world stands upon a knife edge - on the one hand disaster of catastrophic proportions, the like of which we cannot begin to imagine. A disaster so grave that it signals the end of much of the civilised world as we know it. On the other hand the way forward could easily lead towards the Path of Heart if only the ordinary, decent people of the world would stand together and cry out enough!

Enough of the chaos!
Enough of economic greed!
Enough of global terrorism!
Enough of ethnic cleansing, hatred and violence!
Enough!

What would it take for such a stance on the part of humanity? Simply put - a willingness to live in harmony with each other and with the other kingdoms of the earth and earth Herself. Solar Eclipses, especially this second Total Solar Eclipse of the 21st century (the first one occurred on the 21st June 2001 in Africa) are integrally connected to the fate of our beautiful planet. In short it provides a map - a way forward, through chaos to harmony. In order to understand the link lets take a look at the chart for the Solar Eclipse.

Antares - Archangel Uriel - Watcher of the West

The Solar Eclipse involved the Sun and Moon together in the 12th degree of Sagittarius conjunct the Fixed Star Antares. The fiery red star, also known as the Heart of the Scorpion is called in the ancient Arabic tradition the Watcher of the West. As one of the four Archangelic Stars of our Solar System, Antares stands as a sentinel of Protection and Justice for our Earth. It points the way towards the fiery realms of the inner worlds and asks humanity to choose wisely, the Way of War or the Path of Peace. Long associated with ancient Ur, birthplace of the Abraham and thus the Jewish people, this Solar Eclipse will hopefully bring to conclusion the racial issues with the Jewish and the Arab people worldwide, issues which have festered for more than 4,000 years in the history of mankind. Ancient Ur was located at the present site of the modern city of Baghdad. This eclipse brings the buried hatred between east and west; black and white; Muslims and Christians; Jews and Gentiles to the fore of world events. Archangel Uriel gathers His host under this focus and opens the doorway for the release of those who seek to maintain this hatred and separatism. These souls will be ushered away from this and future incarnations upon the earth.

Duration of the Eclipse upon world events

This Total Eclipse is one of the most potent indicators for world events over the next 2 - 3 years. The Eclipse lasted for 2 minutes and 40 seconds, and will affect global events for the next 2 years 9 months, between December 2002 and September 2005. Occurring as it did in the mutable sign of Sagittarius we can expect fluctuating circumstances, especially in Africa, Antarctica, Australia and the countries governed by the sign Sagittarius, which are listed overleaf. Australia and some African nations, by virtue of their Sagittarian rulership as well as being in the Path of Totality, can expect a double dose of transformative energies.

Stellium in Sagittarius

Sagittarius traditionally governs travel, philosophy, ideology, education religion and the law. Pluto is currently transiting this sign, indicating the need for humanity to find ways to transform these arenas. Unfortunately since the movement of Chiron into Sagittarius in 1999, humanity's Achilles heel has been exposed. Religious hatred, intolerance and fanaticism feed the fires of our collective subconscious. This represents the shadow side of Pluto in Sagittarius. It seems the mass consciousness is truly struggling to transform buried hatred within each and every country and nation worldwide. Another area which Pluto governs is the realm of death, also known as transition. In some instances transformation comes about through death/transition, in other cases it comes about through purification and death of the ego, clearing the path for soul evolution.

Path of Umbra - locations traversed by the shadow of the Eclipse

The shadow of this eclipse covered Central and Eastern Africa, the India Ocean, Antarctica and Southern and Central Australia. We can therefore expect to see prominent impact from this eclipse in these countries and ocean. When the shadow of an eclipse falls across a country it literally brings to the forefront within the country the national shadow/ego - be it greed, self interest, inhumanity to it's people etc. The eclipse occurred, in its exactitude, in the middle of the Indian Ocean and is itself square to the Pisces Ascendant. In all the Ascendant and Descendant form a mutable Grand Cross to the Nodal Axis with the Eclipse placed conjunct the South Node. Such a patter particularly influences ordinary humanity, who are largely unaware of the spiritual realms and the opportunities for growth which the current crisis on Earth affords them. Such opportunities come about through a willingness to follow ones conscience or heart in regard to personal, family and national and international matters. The following of the heart and consciousness will lead ordinary humanity off the Mutable Cross and towards groups and teachers who are similarly focused upon living the Way of the Heart.

Global Oceanic and Continental Changes

Certainly one could speculate upon the displacement of water in the Indian Ocean and also the acceleration of polar meltdown of Antarctica as a result of the mid-Indian Ocean eclipse. Interestingly, a recent eclipse which fell conjunct the magnetic south in Antarctica in February 2000, resulted in a great increase in the break-up of the southern polar cap. In fact it was only a matter of 2 months after that eclipse that an iceberg five times the size of Tasmania broke off Antarctica and drifted up the main shipping channel of South America, causing considerable concern in international waters. We can expect a continued rise in sea levels worldwide, commencing with the Southern Ocean and Indian Ocean. Prophets old and new, including Edgar Cayce, have foretold of the rise of old Lemuria in the southern Indian Ocean, as a result of increased volcanic earthquake activity in the Northern Hemisphere.

The release of planetary fire/kundalini associated with this Solar Eclipse was seen dramatically immediately after the 4th December when Mt Etna produced some of the most violent eruptions of the past 100 years. The prophet Edgar Cayce directly links Mediterrean volcanic activity with the eruption of oceanic volcanoes in the North Pacific and the subsequent rise of southern lands in the region of the South Pole. I believe these prophecies are linked to Solar Eclipses in the years 2000 - 2003. This particular eclipse, is one of a sequence of eclipses foreshadowing major environmental adjustments on earth in the years to come. Due to a spiritual dispensation humanity have received grace in recent years which has forestalled much of this greater environmental chaos. However, unless a greater percentage of people choose to live by the heart, such large scale global devastation may not be able to be prevented, and if fact may be the way Earth is transformed. Simply put, it's us to us - transform our attitudes, our prejudices, our separatist mentality or watch the earth transform before our eyes.

Australian impact

In Australia, for example, the eclipse passed through South Australia and Southern Queensland. One of the locations of exact totality was the South Australian desert in the region of Woomera. In fact it was hard on the heels of this fire sign eclipse of Sagittarius, only a matter of a fortnight, before devastating fires were lit at the Woomera Detention Centre. Acts of frustration and vandalisation occurred at the hands of the detainees through the firing of government property in the Woomera detention centre. The policies without heart of the Australian Immigration Department have been centred around our coastal borders, as well as in the Detention Centres at Woomera and other places. The Australian government have been resolute in their refusal to listen to the Australian and even international criticism of their "Pacific Solution" immigration policy, which appears to have changed little since the racist "White Australian" policies of the 1950's.

Without a doubt, in my mind, our dry heart with regard to the plight of refugees and our own indigenous and homeless people, is integrally connected to the worst drought Australia has suffered in over a century. The explosion of bushfires in Eastern Australia has also escalated dramatically since the eclipse. Given the Path of Totality which cut a swath through South Australia, I believe that South Australia, already the driest state in the country, may well be the first to have ongoing water restrictions and difficulties for its residents and particularly those living in the capital Adelaide. These are some immediate examples of the national shadow rising as an eclipse's shadow passes over the land. Given the nature of our policies without heart, it may well be that our drought continues unabated until we find the willingness to share our land and resources with those less fortunate.

Pluto - Ruler of the Eclipse

Looking further at the chart we note that Pluto, harbinger of destruction or transformation falls within 6 degrees of the Eclipse, and is thus the ruler of this Eclipse. Pluto governs the transformation of the masses, holding as it does the non-sacred energy of the 1st Ray of Will and Power. To date humanity are relatively inexperienced in handling Plutonian, First Ray energy in a manner conducive to the Will of God. Rather they tend to use brute force or domination as a means to gain control. Pluto is of course associated with nuclear war, as it burst onto the world scene with the development of the atomic bomb in WWII. So instantly we see an important aspect of the tests for world leaders - to act in accordance with the higher or Divine Will or to push for solutions to global issues through the use of personal, nationalistic or political power.

Will of God descends - First Ray in action

Pluto the non-sacred planet of the first ray is the esoteric ruler of the Pisces Ascendant. Initially a number of options lie ahead for a troubled humanity. Transformation through the cessation of ethnic violence, religious hatred and worldwide terrorism is necessary if humanity wish to tread the upward path of the Heart. Pluto asks that we renounce and thus transform our civilisations to ones of true civility instead of amassed hatred.

Why is it that humanity are unable to hear the cry which surges forth, the cry for peace, the cry for hope, the cry for liberation? Have we covered our ears with apathy or self-interest? Do we continue to trust our leaders in the face of their denial, their fear, their prejudice, their conservatism? Are we afraid that our security, our wealth, our livelihood will be eroded? Questions well worth asking ourselves in our heart of hearts.

The Spiritual Hierarchy of Earth stand amassed waiting, ready to assist in the salvation and redemption of all. If we choose the lower path of war, destruction and chaos motivated by national or material interests, then the environmental crisis' associated with water and fire will continue to plague the earth in ever increasing spirals of drought, fire, flood and famine. Humanity is currently galvanised by world events to find a way of responding to such actions in a decisive, just, manner. If our motivations for war are those of defence, protection and Justice for the underprivileged and unprotected we are responding to the higher vibrations of the 1st Ray.

If humanity fails to respond to the higher vibration of Pluto with its call for transformation then we are in effect asking that the Forces of Righteousness bring about transition/death upon our planet. Gaia, Mother Earth will not be sacrificed for the sake of a wayward humanity. The Spiritual Hierarchy of Earth simply will not allow this to happen. In the event that humanity fail to respond to the multitude of global problems which surround us, then we will find ourselves faced with not only the fire of warfare, but also the potency of spiritual fire and its global consequences. For those who chose to align with the Law, the Way of Ascension opens. For those who choose to take the Law into their own hands the Path of Return calls them.

Avatar of Synthesis - Forerunner of the Intergalactic Host

The Avatar of Synthesis is a mighty Cosmic Being who has come to the assistance of humanity, as a result of our cry for help over the last two/three decades. He harnesses the Will of God and is aligned with the Forces of Righteousness, in the war which is currently being waged on the inner levels of Earth. This is the same war which threatens to overtake the entire planet on the physical level of earth in the years ahead. The Avatar of Synthesis, works tirelessly in complete co-operation with the Spiritual Hierarchy of Earth and the Bodhisattva Maitreya, in the discharge of highly potent spiritual energies. Such energies will sooner, rather than later, transform our civilisation from one of darkness to one of Light. These energies are particularly felt at the major spiritual Festivals of the year, namely the Christmas/New Year Holy Days, Easter, Wesak, Ashala and the Michael Festival occurring in December, April, May, June and September every year. We can expect increased activity from the Avatar of Synthesis during the years 2003 - 2005.

Tests of Fire - Earth becomes a sacred planet

Humanity stands poised upon the edge of the abyss. Before us lies the Path of Discipleship, which leads towards the fiery spiritual realms. Entry upon this Path, also known as the Way of the Heart is through the portal of the First Initiation of the soul. This initiation can only be passed through by tests of Fire associated with the planets Pluto and Vulcan. Pluto transforms the shadow self of humanity, whilst Vulcan purifies and lifts us towards the realms of soul and Spirit. Together Pluto and Vulcan provide the energies to purify the amassed evil, which has revealed itself on the physical plane in recent times.

Therefore this total eclipse in Sagittarius, governed by Pluto, puts us on notice that we have arrived at this threshold. Each threshold on the Path of Light is precipitated by the Burning Ground. The Burning Ground is the battlefield upon which the dweller on the Threshold faces the Angel of the Presence. So this second Total Solar Eclipse of the 21st century sets the stage for transformation, transmutation and transfiguration - opportunities which exist for all people on earth. The tests of the first initiation are associated with the issues of sex, power and money. So we can expect battles in these arenas to intensify around the globe. An unfortunate link between power/money/war and rape exists in our history.

It will become evident by the choices and policies of individual nations and races, whether they are standing with the Forces of Light and thus the Solar Angel or the Forces of Negativity and thus the Dweller on the Threshold. The Planetary Dweller, which is the amassed evil thoughtform of humanity, has arisen for transformation NOW. It only continues to exist because of the evil and separatism held in every individual, every nation, and every race. We have before us an opportunity for accelerated spiritual growth, if we can find the will, the heart and the reason to will to love each other and live in peace on this most precious planet. The time of reckoning has come. We enter the Endtimes as we seek to move forward into the Age of Aquarius. Earth is truly in state of Transition/Death/Rebirth, as we seek the light of the spiritual realms.

Sagittarian countries - global hotspots

The eclipse affects all countries which are governed or influenced by the sign of Sagittarius. Below is a list of these countries, in which we can expect to see an escalation of national events. Bearing in mind that there was also an eclipse in December 2001 in Sagittarius, many of these countries have literally been on fire - socio-economic, political racial, religious or environmental fire since that time, more than 12 months ago. Therefore the issues which have arisen in the following countries in the last year can expect to continue their resolution and/or escalation for the next 2/3 years.

Europe - Belgium, Hungary, Bosnia/Herzegovia, The Vatican, The Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Italy, Spain

Given the possibility of world war at this juncture, it appears that some of these European countries may figure prominently in one way or another. Certainly at this juncture France, despite its initial opposition to a war with Iraq is readying its troops for another theatre of war in the Middle East, as well as their current deployment in East Africa. Political turbulence continues unabated in Spain with the struggles of the separatist ETA movement. One can't help but speculate upon the future of the Catholic Church and the Vatican and their response to global crisis in the years ahead. The current Pope John Paul II is certainly speaking out against the inhumanity of terrorism, however his reign is on the decline due to his age and failing health. One wonders whether the racial tensions in Bosnia/Herzegovia will flare again in the years to come.

America - East of Mississippi, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Mississippi River, Indiana, Delaware, Colombia, Bolivia, Eastern Ecuador, Peru, Argentina, Chile

Included in the above list are Argentina and Chile in South America which have suffered much in recent times due to dramatic economic collapse. Again bear in mind that these issues have been building since at least 1998 when a Total Solar Eclipse occurred in this region. The North American continent has been prominent in world events as a result of previous eclipses in July and December 2000 which have been covered in-depth in previous articles on this website. The effects of these eclipses will continue until 2003/4. Note the recent article by Zachary Casper on the American leadership by George Bush and his governments policies.

Middle East - Arabia

Arabia, as a potential US Air Base and/or ally for the possible upcoming war in the Middle East, clearly has to look to its allegiances and choices. Speculation of late as to what involvement Arabia may have with terrorist cells, funding for terrorist activities or harbouring of weapons of mass destruction are all current issues. The issue of Middle East politics is covered in an earlier article in greater depth, on this website, as well as in the book "Earth in Transition."

Indian Sub Continent - Pakistan

Pakistan, as one of the nuclear powers of the world, is put on notice of the need to wisely use such power, particularly with regard to the conflict with India over the Kashmir Line of Control. Pakistan is also under focus due to sectarian violence and terrorist activities which continue to erupt on the subcontinent. This region has been under Eclipse focus since August 1999 and will continue to remain in the spotlight until late 2005.

Asia/South Pacific - Siberia, Northern Sumatra, Borneo, Tibet, Indo-China, Mongolia, Burma, Thailand, Australia

Great turmoil has existed in many parts of Indonesia, including Sumatra and Borneo since an eclipse in that region in late 1998. These nations still have much to learn and resolve with regard to ethnic/religious tensions. The fight for democracy in Burma will continue, hopefully with increased success, as has been seen in 2002 with the long awaited release of their rightful national democratic leader, Aung Sang Suu Kyi. Australia, as has already been noted, is yet to find its compassionate heart with regard to its national and international issues, not only around people but also with regard to world climate issues and the use of fossil fuels. Sadly it seems that self interested economics are at the basis of many of our governments policies in these areas.

 

Africa - Zimbabwe, Madagascar

The land rights issues in Zimbabwe are clearly not over yet, as well as the ever burgeoning health/economic and food crisis of Africa. In fact the rise in AIDS and other viral diseases has already reached pandemic proportions on this most ancient of continents. One can only speculate as to how long it will take for many of these deadly viruses to circulate to the remainder of the planet, via the oceans and the air. The Total Solar Eclipse on the Southern Winter Solstice in 2001 brought the rapid escalation of the myriad of African issues to world attention. Similarly this region and its many humanitarian problems will remain in focus until 2005.

 

Formalhaut - Watcher of the South - Archangel Gabriel - Herald of Ascension

Formalhaut a most beatific, brilliant Fixed Star which harnesses the energies of the Archangel Gabriel, is situated on the Ascendant of this Eclipse Chart. The Ascendant in any chart is the doorway through which we may ascend, as individuals, nations and races, into the light of the spiritual realms. Formalhaut in this position represents for humanity a trial or a temptation. Situated at the door to ascension it indicates hope for a lost humanity via the herald, Archangel Gabriel. He is the Watcher from the High Place, full of power, wisdom and the guidance of the spiritual kingdom for humanity the erring child, who seek to find their way home to the Eternal realms. Formalhaut, and thus Archangel Gabriel holds the power to release us from the past heralding a new era of love and wisdom for our planet.

In individuals who have this star prominent, the best qualities manifested are their capacity for altruism and following of a noble cause. However the dangers of such noble idealism being corrupted are inherent for those with this fixed star prominent. Humanity is, and will continue to be, tested in just such a manner via this eclipse. Do we have the nobility as a species to maintain purity of heart in the face of rising evil, thus learning to find ways of living in harmony with each other. Or will we taint and destroy all such true idealism in favour or materialistic or nationalistic ends?

Two examples of prominent individuals governed by this majestic star are Abraham Lincoln, one of the founding Fathers of America who worked for the Forces of Light and Adolph Hitler, who became a vehicle for the Forces of Darkness, galvanising his people's support through nationalistic idealism of a super race. One again the Forces of Darkness are attempting to gain control of the physical plane of earth. Inherent in the tests associated with Formalhaut is the need for purity of motive. Is this really a war against terrorism? If so then let all terrorists in all nations be routed out. Terrorists hiding under the blanket of democracy or national interest, or economic gain, or nationalistic revenge will bring the attention of the Forces of Righteousness upon their nations with dire consequences.

Alderbaran - Watcher of the East - Archangel Michael, the White Horseman and His Holy Host ride to victory

Looking further at the chart for this eclipse, notice the Earth conjunct, the North Node as well as the fixed star Alderbaran. Earth's Spiritual Hierarchy and the Angelic Kingdom stand at the ready - ready to assist, ready to guide, ready to lead and yet humanity must choose. Will they follow the politicians who are true leaders in the spiritual sense of the word or will they blindly follow the drumbeat of war, of ethnic hatred and retaliation. Throughout humanity's history in the Piscean Age wars have been fought over religious idealism and zeal. Fundamentalists, be they Christians, Jews, Arabs, or Hindus have waged war on each other. The Fixed Stars of Antares and Alderbarren are associated with this age old struggle - the struggle for the emergence of true warriorship.

Archangel Michael, the Protector of the Christ, has amassed his Host and rides now for the victory of the Light on Earth. All those who would stand and ride with Him must respond to His call.

He calls for action.
He calls for the protection of the persecuted.
He call for courage in the face of amassed evil.

Through responding to His call we stand with and for the Christ Buddha Maitreya in the Heart of Earth.

 

Saturn in the last decan of Gemini

Continuing to look at the chart notice the position of Saturn, the planet of karma, placed in the last decan of Gemini. Surely we must realise the need for dialogue, linked with productive action. Surely we must realise that the time has nearly run out for empty words. Surely we must realise that effective negotiations and co-operation are the way forward. In the second week of June 2003, Saturn will leave the sign of Gemini, and the time for negotiated solutions will have passed. Saturn's entry into the sign of Cancer, the sign of the Mother indicates that the Mothers of the Earth will take a prominent role in the next phase of humanity's evolution. Those who will not live by the Heart and by the Law of Love on our planet, will begin to leave earth in their millions with the help of the Mothers of the Earth.

Opportunities for Positive Change

Yet hopeful signs exist within this Eclipse starmap of December 2002. Note the beautiful trine between Saturn and Uranus, evidence of the opportunities for a mighty leap forward through radical changes in the mass consciousness. Similarly Jupiter forms benefic trines to the Sun/Moon/Pluto triple conjunction in Sagittarius suggesting that the opportunities for spiritual warriorship and a refusal to act from hatred are entirely within the grasp of humanity. Mars also forms a lovely trine to Saturn in Gemini indicating that we have the potential for a measured use of force and discipline in the name of Justice. This may well be wielded through negotiation and diplomacy rather than bullets. Sextiles exist between the Eclipse Sun/Moon and Neptune in Aquarius, indicative of compassionate co-operation as a way to heal the many trouble spots on earth. Indeed the power of amassed prayer, healing and meditation focused upon such trouble spots is of vital import in this war against terror. Clearly the dharma for humanity, as indicated by the North Node conjunct the Earth in Gemini, is wise choices involving discrimination, dialogue and heart politics.

What of the Venus/Mars conjunction which falls in the early degrees of Scorpio with a square to Neptune. Can we see beyond our own comfort zone, our own delusions, our own intolerance? Are we able to release the paranoia, the guilt, the fear that such global problems will affect us and our relationships. It is no longer possible for ordinary, decent Australians, or other nationalities, to pretend that these problems are in some far flung corner of the globe. It is no longer possible for us to sit with our own levels of complacency and disassociate ourselves from the chaos, the disease, the ethnic and sexual repression which exists in many parts of the globe.

Stand within the Heart of Earth

The New Moon inherent within the eclipse is indicative of a final last stand - truly those who would stand in the Heart, must fight for the Heart, live by the Heart and if necessary, die by and for the Heart. Those who would wish to see their children and their children's, children's, children walk the earth of the beautiful planet must act NOW for the good of mankind. This brings to mind the Mantra for World Peace:-

Mantra for World Peace

Violet Fire, Violet Flame
Sacred Fire of Justice and Grace,
Cancel all thoughtforms of evil and rage,
Build a firewall of protection on Earth
For the good of all Living,
For the good of all dead.

Visualise the Earth covered by violet fire which totally consumes
all negative thought-forms.

(the concept of "all dead" refers here to the "living dead",
those who are not alive to life and to what is good.)

Ananda Tara Shan

Penned in the Southern Hemisphere Winter of 2002 by Ananda Tara Shan, Mother Founder of the Theosophical Fellowship and Heart Flow Worldwide, this Mantra is a call to arms, a call to action for all spiritually minded people from all races and all religions. It is a call to harness the potency of the Violet Fire and Violet Flame for the purification of humanity and the Earth. Together Pluto and Uranus produce the Violet Sacred Fire, which harnesses the 1st and 7th rays, purifying and releasing the dross in our inner bodies and the inner bodies of the earth. In this manner earth will become the Star in the Crown, the Jewel in our Solar Logos.

The Violet Fire wielded thus far by the aspirants, disciples and initiates of the Earth has exposed the evil which existed just beneath the surface of 20th century existence. Now this evil is exposed, it can and will be transformed, transmuted and lifted to higher planes. This Violet Fire has accelerated the physical and spiritual crisis on Earth and for this we must thank Father/Mother God. Through the confrontation between evil and love, which is currently occurring in individuals, nations and the planet as a whole, love must and will overtake evil. This is the Law.

So as seekers of the Light we have a duty of care to stand firmly on the side of Love and refute evil wherever we find it - within ourselves or the world at large. This process of the release of spiritual fire will bring about a rise in the kundalini of humanity and a rise in the kundalini/volcanic activity on earth. In this way we will evolve as a species towards greater love. This is indeed the destiny of Earth, and yet such a mighty destiny cannot take shape without the concerted, amassed efforts of the people of every race, creed and religion.

 

Let us respond to the call to arms.

Let us respond to the higher vibration of the Archangelic Host.

Let us expand our hearts and minds and stand firm upon our
refusal to hate.

Let us close the door to evil, within ourselves, within our nations and
our racial collective unconscious.

Let us invoke the mighty Fire which exists within the body of the Earth to
purify this Earth.

Let us call for the cleansing power of the Waters of the Earth to heal and
purify our emotional bodies.

Let love rule the Earth.
