'BITE THIS'- ORANGE BOTANIC GARDENS

Spring 2009 - March 2010

To complement Orange Blossoms, the Friends have prepared an exhibition that highlights the history of the apple industry Opening of ‘bite this’ exhibition in the Orange district. The exhibition has been curated by local artist Gabriella Hegyes with the assistance of a committee drawn from the Friends and local researchers. The centrepiece of the display is Gabriella’s tree, currently hung with apples, which can form the basis of subsequent displays. There are also historic orcharding artefacts including a wooden spraycart This exhibition is the first one developed by the Friends for the Discovery Centre, a small general purpose venue within the Gardens.

ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE - hosted by

FRIENDS OF THE AUSTRALIAN INLAND BOTANIC GARDENS, MILDURA

May 21st-23rd


Supported by the Shire of Wentworth Council and the Mildura Rural City Council.

Theme- Secrets of the Mallee.

Friends of the AIBG have put together a conference of broad interest to delegates.

Program includes short presentations of interesting and innovative developments in various gardens.

Speakers will include Dr Gary Crilley, Senior Lecturer, Division of Business, School of Management, University of SA is a presenter and who is responsible for the research on the benefits for the "over 50's" of volunteering in botanic gardens.
