Notes

The Weston family arrived in Sydney on the 13 January, 1855 on the "Bangalore". William was a Police Inspector. The family consisted of his wife Eliza and their first three children. At some point William moved to Mudgee/Gulgong and became a teacher. Later he moved further west to Cobborah where he started up a school attached to John Blekemore's pub known as the "Wellcome Inn." He later tried to get the newly formed Dept of Education to open a school in Cobborah, but it did not eventuate until after his death somewhere around late 1870's.

From Edgar Penzig, "Troopers, Villains, Vipers and Vixens"

I don't know if this is our WJ Weston but it's interesting.

WJ Weston the Mail man and Mudgee school teacher, Mr Farrel, were held up by the bushranger known as Eather or Heather, on the 2-4-1863 on the Cassilis / Mudgee Rd near Reedy Ck. The following day a prominent landholder, Robert Lowe, shot and killed Eather. (Robert Lowe employed George Barrington at Yamble. John's daughter married WJW's son)
