2008 Wave Camp.
It's in on again this year from June 7th to June 9th, and perhaps the 10th by arrangement if the wave is running. Notice if you are coming would be greatly appreciated.  See below for accommodation  options and details.

2007 Wave Camp.
We had hoped Geoff's 24,000 feet on May 4th is a foretast of what is to come.  Unfortunately there was no wave but there were some good thermal and ridge flights.

2006 Wave Camp.
There were 10 gliders present with members from the Geelong, Bendigo, Bordertown and Grampians Clubs.

DustThis year has been very dry and for the first time in June the tug raised dust.  Saturday was cold and windy, Sunday was colder and windier but Monday was much more pleasant with almost no wind.  LaunchOn each day there were thermal flights although they were much shorter on Sunday.

There were some lenticular clouds on Sunday, but no pilots attempted to contact them because they were observed by the pilots enjoying the bonfire at 8:30 pm when
the full moon illuminated the Gridclouds.   There were fairly steady sunny patches on the foothills of Mt.William on Monday suggesting some small wave action, but no-one succeeded in successfully using it.  We needed someone with a motor glider!  Some fires provided reliable, smooth lift on Monday.

Glider pilots are invited to the Grampians Soaring Club annual "Wave" camp on the eastern side of the Grampians during the Queen's Birthday weekend.   The preferred site is Mr. Robert Milne's "Noelhurst" field at Jallukar, but if the strip is too wet the operation is moved to the Stawell Aerodrome.

Catered accommodation is available at the Girl Guides camp "Bastin Park" at Lake Fyans where the majority of the locals and visitors gather in the evenings for a meal and yarn around a camp fire.  Bastin Park has two accommodation huts, a kitchen and an ablution block with hot showers.  Visitors will need to bring their own bedding and, if possible, mattress.  Breakfast and dinner is included in the accommodation price, and lunch is available on the field.

Alternative accommodation is available at the nearby Lake Fyans Caravan Park which has a range of cabins and camp sites.  Mr. Robert Milne has the nearest accommodation to the airfield.  It consists of two modern cottages and is within walking distance from the field.  There are other sites as shown on the Accommodation Map.

An operations booklet , with revised airspace and oxygen procedures details in Acrobat format for Noelhurst in colour (2.5Mb) (This is the old version - the new version would not upload. Will be fixed),  or black and white (1.5Mb).  The main change is the airspace details (94Kb) which is available as a separate Adobe Acrobat page.  The booklet is laid out for A5 double sided printing on A4 paper - hence the pages are not in reading order.   A sheet showing the Air Safety Authority "designated areas of operations (240Kb)" for entry into Class A/E airspace is available in Adobe format.   Please send any corrections or suggestions to John Anselmi at .

Two articles, Aviation Oxygen from the Nelson Aircraft Co.,
and Hypoxia by Dr. Furgang are strongly recommended.  (The Virtual Naval Hospital site has been taken down.)
