What to see in and around the town of Dimboola

Country hospitality is a way of life in Dimboola. Whether it be accomodation, camping, sporting facilities (tennis, golf, bowls, etc.), picnic areas, or historical and natural attractions, the town has much to offer.

One of Dimboola's historical buildings in the main street: the Dimboola Post Office.

Original Lowan Shire Hall (1877-1885). Dimboola Shire headquarters 1885-1914. The building is still in use today (Notice the "Open" sign out front?).

Another historical building of Dimboola is the Dimboola Court House, which is also in the main street. It has recently been restored, and currently is the home of the Dimboola & District Historical Society.

Come and explore Victoria's second largest National Park: The Little Desert. It is a desert only in name as it is a living wilderness and great camping spot.

This 132,000 hectare natural sanctuary extends from the Wimmera River in the east all the way to the South Australian border. It can be explored either on foot along the numerous walking tracks or otherwise by four-wheel-drive vehicle as its tracks are very sandy.

Pink Lake is situated a few kilometres north-west of Dimboola along the Western Highway. It is an excessively salty lake (or hypersaline wetland). Its pink colour, (beta carotene, which is also found in carrots and oranges) is created by microscopic algae found in the lake.
