| Whether
your a seasoned gold prospector, or never picked up a gold pan or seen
a detector in your life, this site is for you! Drawing from over 25
years
experience we hope to convey to you some useful and relevant
information
on prospecting and fossicking with a little history to help understand
the heritage.
As well as the content on our web site, we also publish books and manuals for beginners on gold prospecting as well as area prospecting guides and histories. Check out our page on books and manuals for more information. We also do Desktop Publishing work in and around our local
community The focus of the goldfields information on this site is quite specific to the Daylesford area. We will not be changing this since a lot of sites now link to this one, and we will still be doing a lot of prospecting in the area. People do not usually associate Daylesford with its origins as a gold town. Since it is well known as a tourist destination, we would like to point out that you can find gold here as well. There is a lot of material around about Dunolly including John Tully's maps and books by James Flett. As such we are unlikely to try and add to this. We recognise the importance of tourism; but it must be kept in some perspective and not allowed to become the lone 'salvation' of rural economies. Remember what happened to to some of the towns in the north east of Victoria and the Grampians after the big fires. It can't do the self esteem any good going cap in hand to the government because all your economic eggs were in the one basket of tourism. Feedback
Happy prospecting
